The copy I originally purchased was missing 70 pages so buyer beware of low prices! I actually purchased from a company selling on amazon too but that way they also fixed the problem by sending another intact for free.Beside from that warning I loved the story. I'm trying to complete my collection by purchasing what manga I'm missing through Tokyo pop/Mixx and the new Kodansha releases, since sometimes you can't wait a year to get your moonie paws on the next Sailor Moon.
That being said if you want colored pages and more story for your buck go Kodansha. Their manga is bigger, so you get more chapters. If you want to gamble on a sellers idea of what's used-acceptable, spend anywhere from $20-$50 for a new copy, or liked the dubbed names/can't wait a year, go Tokyo pop/Mixx.
The story itself does a great if somewhat repeative job of how the inner scouts gain their new abilities. Halfway through you get to read manga concerning each of the girls struggle with studying for their high school entrance exam. This particular copy will leave you wanting to purchase the next Sailor Moon SuperS since it stops before Venus/Minako's dream story ends. It also only gives you Makoto, Minako, Ami, and Rei's exam battle chapters. There's this Girl's School Battle chapter that's funny but I really wanted to see if Usagi/Serena/Bunny had an exam battle chapter. I can only assume its in the next book, Sailor Moon SuperS 3 by Tokyo pop/Mixx.
I don't think Kodansha would publish the same way as Tokyo pop, since the Japanese version has 2 short story books that cost a lot and I'm not even sure they will even be translated. So if you want to read the cute exam battles get this.

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Vol 1 Bishojyosenshi Sailormoon Japanese Edition Naoko Takeuchi 9784063347760 Books Reviews
I could not believe it! Finally got my own copy of the original sailor moon manga and it is PERFECT!! Compared to the new reprint, there are not many differences, just a few mistranslations, but still it is a great manga to acquire )
I love Sailor Moon, so I'm probably biased, but I've read this book more times than I can count!
The comic is lovely (especially for the price) - however, the image on the front cover is not as sharp/clean-looking as I would have expected; it's almost as though the printing is a bit off. For the price though, you can't go wrong. (Note shipping was long + costly)
My degree is in languages and one of the ones I’m learning is Japanese. Even if you aren’t really into manga it’s such a great way to practice and enhance your skills!
Sailor Moon Super S vol. 2 is very good. The book has beautiful art. Takeuchi's art gets more detailed with each successive volume. Readers are treated to the breathtaking Helios in his human form, and a glimpse of Artemis' unrequited love for Venus. The main theme is that a dark, malicious sickness is weakening Darien and tearing him and Bunny apart.
SMS vol. 2 is packed with more extras at the end than in previous volumes of the SM series. Naoko Takeuchi gives us a glimpse of the school lives of Ami, Lita, Raye, and Mina. These three short stories are a refreshing break from the dark plot of the book. My hands-down favorite is "Lita's Melancholy." I truly felt I was in Lita's world. I related to her procastination-cleaning tactics, her love of herbal teas and pastries, and her desire to forgo all her responsibilities and stuff her face with Chinese scones and brownies (I have never heard of a Chinese scone, though. Scones are British, as far as I know)!(...)
I love the Sailor Moon franchise, I have all of the anime episodes and all 3 movies made. But I read the manga and the tv show can't stand up to the original story of Sailor Moon by Naoko Takeuchi. It's not for kids though, it get's pretty intense and serious, so if you're looking for the little goofy sailor moon from tv don't go to the manga. If you want something that is a bit more grown up and it's storyline isn't as childish and you're tired of all of those episodes where nothing seems to be going on but the same old "Oh no an enemy has shown up, Sailor Scouts arrive, defeats the enemy, yay! we're good until someone else comes along" then I would defiantly recommend you read the manga. If you're unsure about it still, go and find an online manga website where you can read it for free before you buy. I've already read it online and now I'm slowly buying them all! The story gets really, really, really, good in my opinion when it starts to move into the StarS arc. I'm buying the manga's so I can read them again and again without worrying about being on the computer all day (which I have done before). Great story, fantastic art and wonderful author. Defiantly would encourage that a die hard Sailor Moon fan to get these books.
I am so upset with my interaction with clearancebooksale. I purchased this book, which was labeled "VERY GOOD" expecting a decent used book to come in the mail. WRONG!! It came wrapped in thin plastic packaging, and falling apart. Literally the book cannot be read because pages have already fallen out and been laid back in the book, while others are almost completely detached from the spine! The cover is scratched and bent as well. CLEARLY the description set by the seller was a LIE. I tried to file a claim and return the horrid product but this seller expects me to pay return shipping which is more than I paid for the book AND shipping in the first place. Do yourself a favor and choose another seller, even if it costs a little more.
