This book is one of the best books I've ever read. Thirteen year old bird lives with her aunt Hannah and their dog Hector. Bird has a magnificent talent she can hear animals thoughts and use her mind to talk to them. Bird is a selective mute meaning she chose to be silent, she only uses her gift to speak to animals. When a mysterious horse comes to her farm he is deemed unridable. Bird chooses to name the horse Sundancer but doesn't speak her mind on the matter how can she she been silent for so long. Bird tries to "talk" to Sunny but Sundancer shuts her out. Why? What has happened in this horse's past to make him so moody? Will bird ever be able to talk to Sunny? Can Bird get through to Sunny enough to ride him? I deffinately recommend this book to anyone who is intrested in horses or even just looking for a good book to read.
