From the book description, i was expecting a shallow heroine and an endearing beta hero that would "reform" her but instead i found a thoughtful and sensible heroine and an endearing hero. I also thought the side stories were very good. I also thought that the plot and misunderstandings were not contrived and actually seemed realistic for that setting. I just wish that SPOILER ALERT didnt have to get "compromised" to bring them finally together. END SPOILER.. Sex scene was a little too graphic for me as well. But overall it was a good read. Couldnt put it down and read it in one go.

I love Pamela Morsi. That is the only reason I am giving this book three stars. This is definitely not the normal quality of her books. I am not into "fairy-tale" type books.
Love all her books!
This book was a big disappointment for me. I love Pamela Morsi and I really thought this book would be more like 'Simple Jess.' Unfortunately, it was not. I truly didn't care for any of the characters...none of them. The hero was supposed to be the smart one in the community but he just seemed very immature to me. The heroine and her 'flighty' ways was meant to be amusing, I suppose. I didn't find her amusing at all. The hero's best friend and his 'German widow' were only slightly more interesting. Ms. Morsi's usual humorous touch was definitely lacking in this one. I did a lot of skimming to finish the book because, frankly, I found it boring. I rated it as a 3 rather than a 2 only because, although I didn't really like it, I didn't totally hate it.

Sexual situations in this book may offend some readers.
I'm reading every Pamela Morsi book I can find, and I haven't found one yet that I didn't love. They have just the right mix of sizzle and sass.
This book is set in Louisiana and tells about the Acadians who settled there. It is, of course, a romance novel but the background Pamela provides about their customs and religious beliefs makes it more interesting. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a good story well told.
I live in Louisiana, so I was expecting to find mistakes in the history of this book, There was NONE to my surprise! It was so well written that I could hear the Cajun inflections in their speech and mannerisms! I felt like I was there, and grew to love the characters so much, that I hated to see it end. I can only hope that Pamela Morsi continues where she left off. This was one of the best, if not the best, Cajun books I've read. Thank you Ms. Morsi for this enchanting tale!
What I consistently love about Pamela Morsi, is the way she takes me away to someplace I'll never have the chance to visit another way. Even the most romantic of her books are well researched and have lots of detail. I think I've read 90% of what she's written, and this one is my favorite by far. I'm especially fond of the historical romances that are innocent and sweet. If you're looking to escape to a simpler time and place, this is that kind of book. Make yourself a strong cup of coffee and sit down in your comfiest chair and enjoy.
